Dr. Rajendra Prasad National Law University Makes a Mark at International Conference

 Dr. Rajendra Prasad National Law University (RPNLU) has showcased its academic excellence by being invited to participate in the International Conference on Gender Dimension of International Trade: Issues, Challenges and Prospects. Organized by Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur, in collaboration with the World Trade Organization from 24th to 25th August 2024. This two days conference provided a platform for scholars and students to discuss critical issues related to gender and international trade.

RPNLU, Prayagraj was represented by a delegation led by Sr. Prof. (Dr.) Usha Tandon, Vice-Chancellor. The delegation included two faculty members and four students who presented insightful papers on significant topics.

Dr. Prakash Tripathi, HoD of the Department of Social Sciences, and Mr. Devansh Upadhyay and Mr. Adarsh Prajapati, 1st year students of B.A. LL.B (Hons.) presented a research paper on “Integrating Tribal Women’s Ecological Knowledge with Modern Business Practices for Sustainable Development,” emphasized the importance of traditional knowledge in promoting sustainable business practices. The authors suggested that the government should implement measures to promote indigenous products, such as the ‘I-Tag’ initiative, to ensure that tribal communities receive fair compensation for their contributions.

Another noteworthy presentation was delivered by Dr. Neha Dubey, HoD of the Department of Languages, along with Ms. Pratibha Gaur and Mr. Nihar Duggal, 1st year students of B.A. LL.B (Hons.). They presented a paper titled “Re-centering Economic Policies to Honour Unpaid Care Work: A Feminist Approach.” This paper shed light on the often-overlooked contribution of women in unpaid care work and advocated for policies that recognize and value this work. The delegation proposed that the government should provide direct monetary benefits to women engaged in unpaid care work and integrate their contributions into national economic policies.

The papers presented by RPNLU were met with great appreciation from national and international scholars attending the conference. The university’s participation in this prestigious event solidifies its image as an emerging leading institution in legal education and research.
