The Delhi High Court on Tuesday welcomed Justice Vimal Kumar Yadav as its newest judge, bringing the current working strength of the court to 44 against a sanctioned capacity of 60.
Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya administered the oath of office to Justice Yadav in a ceremony held within the high court premises. The oath was taken in Hindi.
Justice Yadav, a retired judicial officer from the Delhi District judiciary, was elevated to the high court following a notification issued by the Centre on August 8. His appointment was recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium on July 28 — nearly seven months after his retirement.

In July, nine judges had taken oath as judges of the Delhi High Court, marking a significant boost to its judicial strength.
With the latest appointment, the court moves closer to its sanctioned strength, aiming to address mounting case backlogs and improve judicial efficiency.
