The Delhi High Court on Friday sought the response of the city police and a private company on an application filed by actor Rajpal Yadav, who has sought permission to travel to Dubai to attend a Diwali programme, in connection with a pending cheque-bounce case.
Justice Ravinder Dudeja issued notices to the Delhi Police and Murli Projects Private Limited on Yadav’s plea and listed the matter for further hearing on October 14.
Yadav’s counsel informed the court that the actor has been invited by Bihari Global Connect to attend a Diwali programme as a guest of honour in Dubai. He sought permission for the actor to travel abroad between October 17 and 20.

The application was moved in a pending revision petition before the high court, in which Yadav has challenged his conviction by a trial court in a cheque-bounce case. The court has previously allowed him to travel abroad on multiple occasions.
In June 2024, the high court had temporarily suspended Yadav’s conviction in the matter, on the condition that he would take “sincere and genuine measures” to explore the possibility of reaching an amicable settlement with the opposite party.
At that stage, Yadav’s counsel had submitted that the cheque was part of a genuine transaction intended to finance the production of a film, which later failed commercially, leading to substantial financial losses. The actor has also undergone about three months of imprisonment in related civil execution proceedings.
The matter is currently pending before the Delhi High Court Mediation Centre, where efforts are being made to arrive at a settlement between the parties.
