Delhi High Court Round-Up for Wednesday

Important cases heard in the Delhi High Court on Wednesday, February 14:

*HC issued notice on a plea by the Delhi Development Authority seeking vacation of stay on taking any coercive action against the over 100-year-old Shahi Masjid, a graveyard and a school situated in Dhaula Kuan.

*HC was informed separatist leader Yasin Malik, who is serving life sentence in a terror funding case, was examined by doctors at AIIMS and has been provided necessary medical treatment.

*HC asked the DDA to conduct a head count of the spotted deer population in city’s famous ‘Deer Park’ as it suggested that some of them may be translocated to other green areas in the capital if the existing facility was overburdened.

*HC sought the Centre’s stand on a petition by a couple challenging the law that allows only women between the age of 23 and 50 years to go for surrogacy.

*HC granted divorce to a husband on the ground of cruelty by his wife who was under the influence of her parents and could not “wean away” from them to forge a relationship with him.

*HC said it will take up and dispose of “on priority basis” the legal proceedings concerning an HIV positive person whose anonymity and confidentiality shall be strictly maintained.
