Delhi High Court Round-Up For March 2

Important cases heard in the Delhi High Court on Thursday, March 2:

*HC said it was “amazing” that two elected governments have set up Delhi Metro Rail Corporation which now says it has no money to pay the arbitral award to the Reliance Infrastructure-owned Delhi Metro Express Private Limited.

*HC ordered to delete certain adverse remarks and directions by a trial court against two police officials here and asked the judicial officer concerned to exercise care and caution in future before embarking on such “judicial misadventures”.

*Attempts must be made to bring those cured of leprosy back to the mainstream, the HC said while asking the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to ensure that those affected by the disease are not evicted from their colonies.

*The News Broadcasters and Digital Standards Authority told HC it has expressed strong disapproval and objected to a broadcast aired by a television channel, in which charges were levelled against activist Shehla Rashid by her estranged father.

*HC asked the Enforcement Directorate to state its stand on a plea by alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar challenging the framing of charges against him under the anti-money laundering law in connection with a 2017 Election Commission bribery case.

*HC asked the city police about the action taken by it against a Twitter user for his alleged offensive tweet on fact-checking website Alt News co-founder Mohammad Zubair.
