In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Delhi High Court has transferred 233 judicial officers of the Delhi Judicial Service and 23 of the Delhi Higher Judicial Service. The changes impact several key cases, including one involving allegations of sexual harassment against former BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
The transfers were announced by the registrar general of the High Court and are effective immediately. Among the notable changes, Special Judge (POCSO) Chhavi Kapoor, who was presiding over the sexual harassment case against Singh, has been reassigned to the Rouse Avenue court as a special judge. Additional Sessions Judge Gomti Manocha will take over Kapoor’s previous duties at the Patiala House court.
This reshuffle comes at a time when the judiciary is handling several high-profile cases. Additional Sessions Judge Jitendra Singh will fill the vacancy at Rouse Avenue left by the retirement of Special Judge Rakesh Syal, who was overseeing trials involving prominent politicians, including the Delhi excise policy scam implicating former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.
The transfer list also includes about 70 new judicial officers assigned to various districts following their training completion. This move is part of the High Court’s efforts to ensure efficient case management and maintain judicial integrity across the capital.
