Delhi District Courts Bar Associations Call for Complete Strike on Nov 6 to Protest Advocate’s Arrest by Haryana Police

The Coordination Committee of All District Courts Bar Associations of Delhi has called for a “complete strike” in all district courts on Thursday, November 6, 2025. The strike is in protest against what the Committee describes as the “arbitrary and unlawful action” of the SIT, Gurgaon (Haryana Police), in arresting Advocate Vikram Singh.

In a circular dated November 4, 2025, the Coordination Committee stated that an urgent meeting was held to address the arrest. The Committee alleges that Advocate Vikram Singh has been “illegally implicated in a murder case merely because he was representing a co-accused in the said matter.”

The Committee’s circular, signed by Chairman V.K. Singh and Secretary General Anil Kr. Basoya, strongly condemns the action. The Committee views the incident as a “direct and deliberate attack on the independence of the legal profession and an attempt to intimidate and silence advocates from discharging their professional duties without fear.”

“Such conduct by the police authorities not only undermines the rule of law but also shakes the confidence of the legal fraternity at large,” the circular stated.

Expressing “complete solidarity” with Advocate Vikram Singh, the Committee has demanded the “immediate and unconditional withdrawal of the false implication and all consequential proceedings against him.”

As a result of these developments, the Coordination Committee has “unanimously resolved to observe a complete strike on Thursday, 6th November 2025, in protest against this arbitrary action and to uphold the dignity, independence, and security of the legal fraternity.”

All District Court Bar Associations of Delhi have been requested to ensure complete participation and to “refrain from court work on the said day.”

The Committee further resolved that “any such arbitrary and high-handed action against any member of the Bar will not be tolerated,” and affirmed that it “will take all necessary steps to safeguard the rights and professional independence of Advocates.”
