Delhi Court Summons Lalu Prasad and Family in Land-for-Jobs Scam Case

A Delhi court has issued summonses to former Union Rail Minister Lalu Prasad, his son Tej Pratap Yadav, and daughter Hema Yadav, in connection with the alleged land-for-jobs scam. Special Judge Vishal Gogne on Tuesday also summoned Tejashwi Yadav, the former deputy chief minister of Bihar and younger son of Lalu Prasad. The accused are required to appear before the court on March 11.

The case pertains to allegations that during Lalu Prasad’s tenure as the Union Rail Minister from 2004 to 2009, several Group D railway appointments were made in the West Central Zone based in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. It is alleged that these appointments were exchanged for land parcels that were transferred or gifted to the RJD leader’s family members and close associates.

Officials noted that a formal case was registered on May 18, 2022, implicating Lalu Prasad and several others, including his wife, two daughters, and various unidentified public officials and private individuals.
