A Delhi court has passed a restraining order against a woman for allegedly stalking and harassing a married man who refused her proposal for a physical relationship.
The Civil Judge of the Rohini District Court ordered that the woman—who is herself married—must stay at least 300 metres away from the man’s residence and is barred from contacting him or his family in any form.
The court also directed that she must not stalk, follow, or harass the man or any of his family members—whether in person, over the phone, online, or through social media. Additionally, she has been restrained from trying to reach them either directly or indirectly, including through any third party.

Background
The plaintiff approached the court seeking protection from the woman, claiming that they first met at an Ashram in 2019 and began communicating thereafter. According to the man, trouble began in 2022 when he allegedly rejected her proposal for a physical relationship, stating that he was already married with children and not interested in such involvement.
Despite this, the woman is said to have continued contacting him and even his children through social media. The plaintiff also alleged that she visited his home uninvited and pressured him to engage in a physical relationship, threatening to take her own life if he continued to avoid her.
Court’s Findings
After reviewing the facts, the court observed that the woman’s behaviour was infringing upon the man’s right to live peacefully and move freely.
Judge Renu noted that the defendant’s actions had caused substantial distress and amounted to an irreparable injury to the plaintiff’s fundamental rights.
“Such interference causes irreparable injury,” the court concluded while issuing the injunction.
Court’s Directions
The court’s restraining order prohibits the woman from:
- Coming within 300 metres of the plaintiff’s flat
- Contacting the plaintiff or his family in any way, directly or indirectly
- Using any mode of communication, including social media, to reach out to him or his family
- Engaging third parties to do the same on her behalf
The order is expected to remain in force until further directions from the court.
