Court Orders FIR Against AAP Councillor Over Alleged Forged Caste Certificate

In a significant development, a local court on Saturday mandated the registration of an FIR against AAP Councillor Bobby Kinnar, alleging the use of a forged Scheduled Caste certificate to obtain benefits. The directive was issued by Judicial Magistrate Sanya Dalal after reviewing conflicting reports from the certificate-issuing authorities.

The complaint asserts that Councillor Kinnar acquired an SC certificate through deceit, involving “forged and fabricated documents”. Initially, a caste certificate was issued by the Tehsildar of Gautam Buddha Nagar, and remarkably, within five days, a subsequent certificate was granted by an authority in Delhi. The Delhi certificate is alleged to have been based on falsified documents.

The case came to light after discrepancies were noted between two reports from the office of the Tehsildar in Dadri, dated June 26 and July 7, 2023. The first report highlighted issues during online verification of the initial certificate and noted that Kinnar was not residing at the listed address. In contrast, a second action taken report by the investigating officer on February 28 affirmed the certificate’s issuance from the same Tehsildar’s office, revealing a stark contradiction in the records presented by the same office.

Given these inconsistencies, the court emphasized the necessity of a thorough investigation to unravel the full extent of the discrepancies and the potential legal infractions involved. The court’s order specifies that the FIR be filed under the applicable laws, clarifying that this is not an immediate directive for the arrest of the accused but a step towards ascertaining the factual basis of the allegations.
