Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai on Friday visited his native village, Darapur in Amravati district, to pay homage at the memorial of his late father, R.S. Gavai—former Governor of Kerala and Bihar.
Accompanied by family members, the CJI attended the death anniversary ceremony of his father, affectionately known as Dadasaheb Gavai. The family offered floral tributes at the memorial site, commemorating the life and contributions of the veteran political leader and social reformer.
In a symbolic gesture, Justice Gavai also laid the foundation stone for a grand entrance gate leading to Darapur village, which will bear his father’s name, further honouring his legacy.

Later in the day, the Chief Justice is set to inaugurate a newly constructed court building in Daryapur, located within the same district. On Saturday, he will also unveil the Late T.R. Gilda Memorial E-Library at the Amravati District and Sessions Court, aiming to boost digital access to legal resources for the local bar and judiciary.
