Chhattisgarh High Court Chief Justice Inaugurates Digitization Centre at Bilaspur District Court for a Paperless Judiciary

Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, March 6, 2025: Today, a significant and concrete step was taken towards realizing the concept of a Paperless Court, transparent and speedy justice in the State of Chhattisgarh with the inauguration of the “Digitization and Scanning Centre” at District and Session Court, Bilaspur. The first “Digitization Centre” in the District Courts was virtually inaugurated by the Hon’ble Shri Justice Ramesh Sinha, The Chief Justice, High Court of Chhattisgarh, by cutting the ribbon, symbolizing the commitment to advancing the digitization of documents and modernizing Court operations.

On this occasion, Hon’ble Shri Justice Ramesh Sinha, The Chief Justice, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the dignitaries, Judicial Officers, Lawyers, staff, and litigants and expressed:
“Today we are present on the occasion of the virtual inauguration of Digitization Centre at District and Session Court, Bilaspur, which is the first judgeship in the State for this project. The project for digitization of the records of the District judiciary was much-awaited and the inauguration of the project is a step ahead towards paperless Courts as envisioned by the Hon’ble Supreme Court.”

While acknowledging that technology has its advantages and challenges, Hon’ble The Chief Justice emphasized the need to leverage technology for the betterment of the Judiciary, enhancing transparency and the delivery of prompt justice. The Chief Justice remarked:

“We must take advantage of technology for an effective and transparent Judiciary.”

Hon’ble Shri Justice Ramesh Sinha, The Chief Justice, High Court of Chhattisgarh, has always been in favour of using modern technology in the activities of the Judiciary. All the District Courts of the State and the National Lok Adalats have been inspected by The Hon’ble Chief Justice from time to time using modern technology and digital resources. The Hon’ble Chief Justice has been virtually inaugurating Judicial infrastructure projects, Court Buildings, and Residential Quarters of Officers and Employees. Due to the initiative and efforts of the Hon’ble Chief Justice, today the Chhattisgarh Judiciary is among the leading States in providing speedy, accessible, and affordable justice to the people using technical and digital resources.

The inauguration program of the “Digitization Centre” was held in the august presence of:

  • Hon’ble Smt. Justice Rajani Dubey
  • Hon’ble Shri Justice Narendra Kumar Vyas
  • Hon’ble Shri Justice Rakesh Mohan Pandey
  • Hon’ble Shri Justice Ravindra Agrawal
  • Hon’ble Shri Justice B.D. Guru

The programme started with a welcome address by the Principal District and Session Judge, Bilaspur, and concluded with a vote of thanks. On this occasion, the Registrar General, High Court of Chhattisgarh, Officers of the Registry, Judicial Officers and employees from District Court, and Advocates were present.
