Centre Notifies Transfer of Justice Arindam Sinha From Orissa to Allahabad HC

The Union Government has officially notified the transfer of Justice Arindam Sinha from the Orissa High Court to the Allahabad High Court. This decision follows recommendations made by the Supreme Court Collegium during meetings held on March 6 and March 20, 2025. Justice Sinha is expected to assume his new role shortly.

Justice Sinha, who has been serving as the Acting Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court since January 20, 2025, has a distinguished legal career. He was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Calcutta High Court in October 2013 and became a permanent judge in March 2016. He took his oath at the Orissa High Court on October 8, 2021, after being transferred from Calcutta.

With this transfer, Justice Sinha will rank as the fourth senior-most judge at the Allahabad High Court, which is one of India’s oldest and largest high courts. His move is part of a broader initiative to enhance judicial efficiency across high courts in India.
