Centre Notifies Appointment of Judicial Officer Vinai Kumar Dwivedi as Allahabad High Court Judge

The Union government on Wednesday notified the appointment of judicial officer Vinai Kumar Dwivedi as a judge of the Allahabad High Court. The notification was issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice following the approval from the President of India.

The announcement was made public by the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law & Justice, Arjun Ram Meghwal, in a post on the social media platform X.

“In exercise of the power conferred by the Constitution of India, the President of India, after consultation with Chief Justice of India, is pleased to appoint Shri Vinai Kumar Dwivedi, Judicial Officer as a Judge of the Allahabad High Court. I convey my best wishes to him,” the Minister stated in his post.

The appointment follows a recommendation made by the Supreme Court Collegium on October 6. Mr. Dwivedi’s elevation is part of a recent series of judicial appointments aimed at increasing the strength of the bench at the Allahabad High Court.

This development comes shortly after the Central government cleared the appointment of 24 other new judges to the same court, which is one of the largest in the country in terms of sanctioned judge strength.
