Centre Notifies Appointment of 24 New Judges to Allahabad High Court, Working Strength Rises to 110

The central government on Friday cleared the appointment of 24 new judges to the Allahabad High Court, comprising nine advocates and fifteen judicial officers who have been elevated to the bench. With these appointments, the working strength of the court will increase from 86 to 110.

The Allahabad High Court, the largest high court in the country, has a sanctioned strength of 160 judges. Despite this significant number of new appointments, the court will still have 50 vacancies.

The notification follows the recommendation of the Supreme Court Collegium. These appointments are expected to help manage the extensive backlog of cases pending before the High Court.
