The Central government has approved the appointment of six judicial officers as judges of the Allahabad High Court. The development was officially announced by Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law and Justice, Arjun Ram Meghwal, through a post on social media platform X.

The six judicial officers appointed are:
- Jitendra Kumar Sinha
- Anil Kumar-X
- Sandeep Jain
- Avnish Saxena
- Madan Pal Singh
- Harvir Singh
These appointments follow the recommendation made earlier this month by the Supreme Court Collegium, which had forwarded eight names for elevation. However, only six of those names received the Centre’s nod on April 16.
The Allahabad High Court, which is the largest High Court in the country in terms of sanctioned strength, continues to face a significant vacancy crisis. As of April 1, the High Court is functioning with only 79 judges against the sanctioned strength of 160, indicating a vacancy rate exceeding 50 percent.
Meanwhile, a petition remains pending before the Allahabad High Court urging the judiciary and the government to take expeditious steps for time-bound appointments to address the chronic shortage of judges and ensure smoother administration of justice.
