Central Vista Project of the government is clear to proceed. The Supreme Court has delivered its verdict in a bunch of writ petitions challenging Central Vista Project of the Government of India.
A Bench of Hon’ble Justice A M Khanwilkar, Hon’ble Justice Dinesh Maheswari and Hon’ble Justice Sanjiv Khanna has delivered this Judgment.
The Judgment is by majority of 2:1. Justice Sanjiv Khanna has given a dissenting Judgment. The majority held that exercise of power under Delhi Development Authority Act by Government of India is just and valid.
However Justice Sanjiv Khanna (Dissenting) opined that pre approval of heritage committee was mandatory for chand in land use. So far as the issue of award of project, Justice Khanna concurred with the Judgment of Justice Khanwilkar and Justice Maheshwari.
On November 5 the Supreme Court had reserved judgment in these petitions challenging the twenty thousand crore rupees project involving redevelopment and renovation of big portion of Luteyns Delhi, Parliament, India Gate, Rashtrapati Bhavan, South Block and North Block.
Earlier in December 2020, the Supreme Court permitted the Central Government to hold the foundation stone laying ceremony but restrained it to construction and demolition of sites.

- Change of Land Use
- Violation of Municipal Laws
- Violation of Environmental Law
