Celebrities endorsing products or services may be held liable and face legal action if they appear in misleading advertisements, according to a slew of new Consumer Protection Act guidelines that came into effect on Friday. Surrogate ads are also prohibited under the new framework, which is a common practise among liquor and chewing tobacco companies.
