The Calcutta High Court on Monday asked the West Bengal School Service Commission (SSC) and other authorities to spell out their stand on a plea filed by vocational teachers who are seeking weightage for prior teaching experience in the ongoing SLST-2025 recruitment process.
Justice Amrita Sinha directed the SSC, the State government and the State Council of Technical and Vocational Education and Skill Development (Technical Education division) to file their affidavits by December 12. The matter will next be heard on December 23.
The judge also allowed the petitioners to file their objections or responses to the reports before the next date of hearing.
The petition has been moved by vocational teachers who appeared in the School Level Selection Test (SLST-2025) for appointment to teaching posts in classes 9 to 12 in government and aided schools. They have requested the Court to direct the authorities to award additional marks for their earlier teaching experience, arguing that such weightage is essential for fair assessment and parity with other categories.
The Court will examine the competing positions once all affidavits are on record.
