In a recent judicial development, the Calcutta High Court has granted temporary protection to BJP leader Arjun Singh by verbally directing the police not to take any coercive action against him until the next hearing, scheduled for Thursday. This decision came about after Singh, a former MP from Barrackpore, sought the quashing of an FIR filed against him in a case related to a bombing incident near his residence.
The controversy surrounds an event last week when bombs were reportedly hurled near Singh’s house in Bhatpara, North 24 Parganas district. Following this incident, the Barrackpore Court issued an arrest warrant against Singh on Tuesday, compelling him to seek legal relief from the high court.
During the court session, Singh’s legal representative argued for both protection from arrest and the quashing of the FIR lodged against him. Justice Sengupta, presiding over the case, provided a verbal assurance that no coercive steps would be taken against Singh until the matter is further examined in the upcoming hearing.

This interim relief marks a critical moment for Singh, allowing him some respite while the court delves deeper into the allegations and the circumstances of the bombing incident.
