The Bombay High Court has recommended the Centre to make the offence u.s 498A IPC (cruelty against wife by husband and in-laws) compoundable. The Bench of Justices Revati Mohite Dere and Prithviraj Chauhan also observed that in cases where there is amicable settlement, the parties involved have to come to court personally, leading to harships.
