Bomb Threat Email to Chhattisgarh High Court Found to Be Hoax; Police Conduct Extensive Search, Case Registered

The Chhattisgarh High Court received a bomb threat through an email on Wednesday, leading to the evacuation of the court premises and a comprehensive search by security agencies. Officials later confirmed that no suspicious object was found and the threat was a hoax.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police Rajnesh Singh, the email threatening to blow up the high court premises in Bilaspur was received on the court’s official email ID at about 11:50 am. Following the alert, the high court authorities informed the police.

A police team, along with a bomb disposal squad and a dog squad, was immediately deployed at the site. As a precautionary measure, the entire court premises was evacuated.

After conducting an extensive search of the building and surrounding areas, the police did not find any bomb, explosive material, or other hazardous object. Authorities subsequently declared the threat to be fake.

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to trace the source of the email.

The incident follows a series of similar threats to courts in the state. On January 28, bomb threat emails were sent to the official email IDs of district courts in Rajnandgaon, Ambikapur, and Jagdalpur, which were later found to be hoaxes after searches. Earlier, on January 8, district courts in Rajnandgaon, Durg, and Bilaspur had also received similar emails that turned out to be fake.
