The Bihar Judicial Services Association expresses its profound shock and indignation at the recent disgraceful incident aimed at Chief Justice of India in the Supreme Court premises today.
Such an act is not merely an affront to one individual — it is a grave assault on the dignity of the institution of the judiciary, which stands as a bulwark of democracy and rule of law. The Association strongly condemns this deplorable act in the strongest possible terms.
We wish to record our unwavering solidarity with Hon’ble Chief Justice of India, as well as with the Supreme Court of India. We trust that the security apparatus and investigative agencies will promptly and thoroughly probe the matter, ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice, in accordance with the law.
We also urge that in the wake of this incident:
- Judicial Security Enhancement — A detailed review of security protocols in court premises (especially highest courts) should be undertaken, to ensure the safety and sanctity of judges and court proceedings.
- Institutional Response — Other judicial associations, bar bodies, and legal fraternity should join in a unified response, condemning any form of violence or attempted intimidation against judges.
- Public Confidence Assurance — It is essential to reassure the public that the judiciary remains independent, fearless, and committed to dispensing justice with integrity, unaffected by acts of provocation or coercion.
- Legal Accountability — The perpetrator must be prosecuted under applicable statutes for assault, contempt, or other relevant offenses, and a clear message must be sent that such attacks will not go unpunished.
In times like these, the independence, dignity and security of our judiciary must be defended resolutely. The Bihar Judicial Services Association stands firm in that resolve.
