In a recent development, the Bar Council of India (BCI) has issued a notification permitting final semester students of three-year and five-year LL.B. programs to participate in the upcoming All India Bar Examination (AIBE-XIX), scheduled for 24 November 2024. This decision aligns with the Supreme Court’s directive to make the examination more accessible, especially under the ongoing adjustments due to administrative delays caused by the pandemic.
Previously, candidates were required to have their enrolment certificates to be eligible for the AIBE. However, recognizing the challenges faced by final-year students in obtaining these certificates timely, the BCI has allowed those without enrolment certificates and with no pending backlogs to register for the exam.
Key Dates and Requirements for AIBE-XIX
Aspiring candidates must complete their applications by 25 October 2024 through the official BCI website, where they can also find detailed guidelines and the exam syllabus. The BCI plans to release the AIBE 2024 admit cards on 18 November. Additionally, applicants have until 30 October to make any necessary corrections to their forms.
Eligibility Criteria for AIBE-XIX
To qualify for AIBE-XIX, candidates must possess either a three-year or five-year law degree from an institution approved by the Bar Council of India and must be enrolled with a State Bar Council as advocates. The examination imposes no upper age limit, and candidates may attempt the AIBE as many times as needed until they pass.
