Atishi Secures Bail in Defamation Case Filed by BJP Leader Praveen Shankar Kapoor

Delhi Minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader Atishi was granted bail on Tuesday by the Rouse Avenue Court in a defamation case, where she was accused by BJP leader Praveen Shankar Kapoor. The court stipulated a bail bond of INR 20,000 for her release.

The complaint arose from statements Atishi made, which Kapoor claimed were defamatory, leading to the legal challenge. Following her court appearance, Atishi addressed the media, highlighting her expectations for Delhi’s budget allocations. She expressed hope that Delhi would receive INR 20,000 crores from the central funds, emphasizing the city’s contribution of INR 2 lakh crores and its GST share of INR 25,000 crores to the central exchequer.

Atishi detailed the planned allocation of these funds, stating, “We expect at least 10% of our contributions to be returned to us. We have requested INR 10,000 crores for infrastructure development and another INR 10,000 crores for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).”
