Anti Corruption Bureau Arrests a Judge in a corruption case

The State Anti Corruption Bureau has arrested Archana Jatkar (Judicial Magistrate First Class) at Vadgaon Maval Court in Pune in a corruption case about managing a court case.

On January 13, ACB arrested Shubhavri Gaikwad (29) for accepting a bribe of rupees 2.5 lakh from Swapnil Shevkar.

Gaikwad had approached Shevkar and told him that she would settle the case pending against for a fee. However, Gaikwad approached the ACB and complained.

ACB sleuths laid down a trap, and Gaikwad was nabbed while accepting the bribe. During the probe, the name of the Judge popped up.

While analysing the call records, ACB found that Gailwad had made more than 140 phone calls to the Judge. The Judge moved an anticipatory bail plea, but the Court rejected the same.

After that, the ACB arrested Sushant Kanjale and suspended Bhanudas Jadhav for their role in the case. 

On Thursday, MFC Jatkar surrendered in the special Court, and ACB formally arrested her. ACB’s lawyer sought custody for six days, and the Court granted the same. He also told the Court that phone calls between the parties need to be collected, and there might be a need to get voice samples.

According to ACB, Jatkaw was using sim cards in the name of Kubte for making the alleged calls.

Now the ACB is investigating which parties had made the payment for settling cases.
