Andhra Pradesh High Court Dismisses Case Against Actor Allu Arjun Over Alleged Election Code Violation

In a significant ruling on Wednesday, the Andhra Pradesh High Court quashed a police case against popular Telugu actor Allu Arjun, who was accused of violating the model code of conduct during the recent general elections. The case stemmed from an incident on May 11, where Arjun allegedly attended an event at YSRCP leader Shilpa Ravi Chandra Kishore Reddy’s residence in Nandyala town without the necessary permissions from electoral authorities.

The FIR lodged by Nandyala police cited a large gathering that ensued following Arjun’s visit, which allegedly breached election protocols. According to the complaint, Reddy, who hosted Arjun, did not secure prior approval from the returning officer, which led to “disobedience of the rules laid down for the electoral process.” In the police records, Arjun was mentioned as Accused 1 (A1) and Reddy as Accused 2 (A2).

However, in their defense, both Arjun and Reddy maintained that the visit was personal and non-political, arguing that the presence of a crowd outside Reddy’s house was not within their control. They petitioned the high court to dismiss the case on these grounds.
