The Allahabad High Court has concluded hearings and reserved its judgment on a public interest litigation (PIL) demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the alleged mismanagement and financial irregularities during the Maha Kumbh Mela.
The PIL, initiated by Keshar Singh along with other petitioners, claims that despite the significant expenditure reported by the administration in preparing for the religious gathering, pilgrims encountered numerous hardships due to inadequate facilities.
Chief Justice Arun Bhansali and Justice Kshitij Shailendra, presiding over the division bench, have decided to reserve the court’s decision after a detailed assessment of the arguments presented by all parties involved. The petitioners have expressed concern over what they describe as rampant mismanagement, which they argue compromised the spiritual and logistical aspects of the event attended by millions.
