Samajwadi Party Member of Parliament from Sambhal, Ziaur Rahman Barq, has approached the Allahabad High Court with a writ petition seeking a stay on his arrest following an FIR connected to the recent violence in Sambhal. Barq, who is also pushing for the quashing of the FIR, claims he was wrongfully implicated.
The FIR accuses Barq of inciting violence through his speeches, which allegedly led to the deadly clashes on November 24. These clashes erupted during protests against a court-ordered survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid, a Mughal-era mosque, in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh. The violent encounter between protesters and police resulted in four deaths and numerous injuries.
