The Allahabad High Court on Tuesday stayed the arrest of cricketer Yash Dayal in connection with a case registered against him for allegedly sexually exploiting a woman under the false promise of marriage.
A division bench comprising Justices Siddhartha Varma and Anil Kumar passed the interim order while hearing a petition filed by Dayal challenging the First Information Report (FIR) lodged against him. The bench also directed that no coercive action be taken against the 27-year-old fast bowler until the next date of hearing, his counsel Gaurav Tripathi confirmed.
Dayal, who currently represents Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), was booked under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to sexual intercourse by employing deceitful means. The FIR was registered on July 6 at Indirapuram police station in Ghaziabad district.

According to the complainant, she and Dayal had been in a relationship for nearly five years, during which he allegedly promised to marry her. She claimed that he repeatedly deferred the marriage and she later discovered he was romantically involved with other women.
The woman initially submitted her complaint on June 21 through the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister’s Integrated Grievance Redressal System (IGRS) portal, following which the FIR was registered.
The case has now been listed for further hearing, and the court’s protection from arrest will remain in effect until then.
