The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has delayed the hearing of Congress MP Rakesh Rathore’s bail application until March 11. Rathore, representing Sitapur, faces charges in a rape case, prompting judicial scrutiny and a request for bail.
Justice Rajesh Singh Chauhan presided over the initial hearing and decided to adjourn after Investigating Officer (IO) Anoop Shukla indicated that the investigation would need an additional ten days to complete. Responding to this timeline, Justice Chauhan scheduled the next hearing for the day following the anticipated completion of the probe.
During the upcoming session on March 11, IO Shukla is expected to be present with the case diary to provide an update on the investigation’s progress. This directive aims to ensure that the court has the most current information at hand to make an informed decision regarding the bail plea.

The legal proceedings have seen active participation from both sides. Advocate Pooja Singh, representing the survivor, and the Additional Advocate General V.K. Shahi, along with government counsel V.K. Singh, have submitted counter affidavits in response to Rathore’s plea. Rathore’s legal team, including advocates Arun Sinha and R.D. Shahi, filed a rejoinder, arguing that their client was falsely implicated and that the FIR was registered belatedly.
