In a startling turn of events in the ongoing case regarding the firing outside Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s residence, an accused has claimed corruption within the prison healthcare system. Harpal Singh, who was arrested for his alleged involvement in the shooting incident at Galaxy Apartments in Bandra on April 14, has accused a prison doctor of demanding money for medical treatment.
During a court hearing conducted via video link before Judge B D Shelke at the special court for Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA), Singh stated that the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Taloja Jail, where he is currently incarcerated, demanded Rs 10,000 to refer him to a higher medical facility for his fractured finger. According to Singh, he has been suffering from a fractured ring finger on his right hand for the past eight months without proper treatment.
Responding to these serious allegations, the court has directed the CMO of Taloja Jail to submit a detailed report on the matter by October 7 and ordered that necessary medical treatment be provided to Singh immediately.
This incident comes in the backdrop of the April attack where two motorcycle-borne men fired five rounds outside Salman Khan’s residence, an act police believe is linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Six individuals, including Singh, have been arrested in connection with this high-profile case.
Additionally, another accused, Mohammad Chaudhary, brought up a similar issue regarding inadequate medical care, claiming he was suffering from an infection in his right leg. The court also instructed the jail authorities to ensure Chaudhary receives the required medical attention.
