Criminal Jurisprudence in India is Reformative not Retributive-Allahabad HC Modifies Life Sentence

The Allahabad HC on Friday stated that, “reformative theory of punishment is to be adopted and for that reason, it is necessary to impose punishment keeping in view the doctrine of proportionality”. In this case, FIR was lodged by Kamlesh (daughter of the deceased). The deceased was stabbed by the appellant (Babu) in her abdomen.
