Bilaspur, 14 January 2026: In a significant step towards strengthening judicial infrastructure in the State, the Virtual Bhoomi Poojan and Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony for construction of the Civil Court Building at Pratappur, District Surajpur was held on Wednesday, 14 January 2026. The ceremony was graced by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ramesh Sinha, the Chief Justice of the High Court of Chhattisgarh, who virtually laid the foundation stone for the project.
Addressing the gathering, Hon’ble the Chief Justice emphasised that modern and well-equipped judicial infrastructure is essential for ensuring an efficient, accessible, and citizen-centric justice delivery system. His Lordship observed that the establishment of a new Civil Court Building at Pratappur would significantly benefit litigants, Advocates , and Court Staff by improving working conditions and facilitating timely dispensation of justice. His Lordship further underlined that the development of Judicial infrastructure in semi-urban and rural regions reflects the commitment of the High Court to equitable access to justice and balanced regional development.
The ceremony was held in the august virtual presence of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Radhakishan Agrawal, Judge, High Court of Chhattisgarh and Portfolio Judge, District Surajpur.
Also present on the occasion were the Registrar General and Officers of the Registry, the Principal District & Sessions Judge, Surajpur, Senior Superintendent of Police Surajpur , Judicial Officers, District Administration Officials , Members of the Bar Association, Office bearers , and Court Staff from the district.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Smt. Vinita Warner, Principal District & Sessions Judge, Surajpur. A short video presentation showcasing the preview and proposed design of the Civil Court Building at Pratappur was also screened, providing insights into the planned infrastructure and facilities.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Shri Om Prakash Singh Chauhan, District & Additional Sessions Judge, Pratappur, District Surajpur, who expressed sincere gratitude to Hon’ble the Chief Justice, Hon’ble Portfolio Judge, and all dignitaries and stakeholders for their guidance and cooperation in the successful conduct of the ceremony.
The event reaffirmed the High Court of Chhattisgarh’s steadfast commitment to strengthening judicial infrastructure and enhancing the justice delivery system across the State.
