Centre Notifies Transfer of Two Allahabad High Court Judges

The Central Government has notified the transfer of two judges from the Allahabad High Court to the Andhra Pradesh and Patna High Courts, respectively. The transfers were announced through notifications issued by the Ministry of Law & Justice, Department of Justice (Appointments Division) on October 14, 2025.

In the first notification, Justice Donadi Ramesh, a Judge of the Allahabad High Court, has been transferred to the Andhra Pradesh High Court. The notification states, “In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 222 of the Constitution of India, the President, after consultation with the Chief Justice of India, is pleased to transfer Shri Justice Donadi Ramesh, Judge, Allahabad High Court, to be a Judge of Andhra Pradesh High Court and to direct him to assume charge of his office in the Andhra Pradesh High Court.”

In a separate notification issued on the same day, Justice Sanjay Kumar Singh, also a Judge of the Allahabad High Court, has been transferred to the Patna High Court. The notification directs him to assume charge of his new office accordingly.

Both transfers were made by the President of India, exercising the powers conferred under Article 222(1) of the Constitution, following consultation with the Chief Justice of India. The notifications, signed by Joint Secretary to the Government of India, Jagannath Srinivasan, have been sent for publication in the Gazette of India.
