The President of India has appointed Shri Justice Pavankumar Bhimappa Bajanthri to the office of the Chief Justice of the Patna High Court. Justice Bajanthri has been serving as a Judge of the Patna High Court prior to this elevation.
According to the official notification released by the Ministry of Law and Justice, the appointment was made exercising powers conferred by the Constitution of India. The President made the appointment in consultation with the Chief Justice of India.
The notification states, “In exercise of the power conferred by the Constitution of India and in consultation with the Chief Justice of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Pavankumar Bhimappa Bajanthri, Judge of the Patna High Court as Chief Justice of the Patna High Court with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office.”
Justice Bajanthri’s appointment will be effective from the date he formally assumes charge of his new office, succeeding the outgoing Chief Justice.
