The Allahabad High Court on Friday granted bail to Umar Ansari, the younger son of late gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari, in connection with an alleged forgery case registered in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur district.
Justice Gautam Chaudhary allowed the bail plea filed by Umar, who has been accused of using forged documents and his mother Afsa Ansari’s signature to secure the release of a property that had earlier been seized under provisions of the Gangster Act. The case was lodged by Mohammadabad Police and Umar was arrested from Lucknow before being remanded to judicial custody.
According to the prosecution, Umar allegedly attempted to obtain the property in his favour by relying on falsified documents. Following his arrest, he was sent to jail after a district court dismissed his bail application. He subsequently approached the high court seeking relief.

The High Court, after considering the submissions, granted bail to Umar Ansari, paving the way for his release from custody.
