Grant of Stay is a Discretionary and Equitable Power, Not a Statutory Right of an Appellant: Supreme Court

The Supreme Court of India has reiterated the fundamental legal principle that the power of an appellate court to grant a stay is discretionary and equitable in nature, and not a statutory right that can be claimed by an appellant merely by filing an appeal.
