Patna High Court Invites Applications for 111 Stenographer Posts; Apply by September 19

The Patna High Court has issued Advertisement No. PHC/02/2025 inviting online applications for the recruitment of 111 Stenographer (Group-C) posts in Pay Level 4 (₹25,500–₹81,100) plus allowances. The vacancies include 68 regular posts and 43 backlog posts from the 2022 and 2023 recruitment cycles.

Vacancy Details

The category-wise breakup is as follows:

• Unreserved: 32 posts (including 1 backlog)
  
• EWS: 6 posts
  
• Backward Classes (BC): 15 posts (7 backlog)
  
• Extremely Backward Classes (EBC): 26 posts (14 backlog)
  
• Scheduled Castes (SC): 30 posts (19 backlog)
  
• Scheduled Tribes (ST): 2 posts (2 backlog)
  

Of the total, 44 posts are horizontally reserved for women (20 backlog) and three posts are reserved for Orthopedically Handicapped (OH) candidates in their respective categories.

Applications must be submitted online via the official website patnahighcourt.gov.in. No other mode of application will be accepted.

Eligibility Criteria

• Nationality: Must be an Indian citizen or fall under certain eligible refugee/migrant categories with the required state government certification.
  
• Age Limit (as on January 1, 2025):
  
  • UR/EWS (Male): Max 37 years
    
  • UR/EWS (Female), BC/EBC: Max 40 years
    
  • SC/ST: Max 42 years
    
  • OH candidates: Max 47 years
    
  • Relaxations applicable as per rules for government employees and Bihar domicile candidates.
    
• Educational & Skill Qualification:
  
  • Intermediate (12th pass) from a recognised board/university.
    
  • Certificate in English shorthand and typing from a recognised institution.
    
  • Minimum six-month computer application diploma/certificate.
    
  • Typing speed: 80 wpm in English shorthand and 40 wpm in English typing.
    

Selection Process

The recruitment process will comprise:

1. Written Test:
   
   • Part-A: English shorthand computer typing test (85% accuracy required).
     
   • Part-B: Objective test on English language and grammar (30 marks) and computer awareness (20 marks).
     
   • Part-C: English typing test (90% accuracy required).
     
2. Interview: 10 marks (minimum qualifying marks: 3).
   

Minimum qualifying marks: 40% in objective test, 85% shorthand accuracy, 90% typing accuracy, and 30% in interview.

Application Fee

• UR/BC/EBC/EWS: ₹1100
  
• SC/ST/OH (Bihar domicile): ₹550

Exam Centre

Examinations will be held in Patna, with the possibility of allocation to other cities if required.

Key Instructions

• Only one application per candidate will be considered; in case of multiple submissions, the last valid one will be accepted.
  
• All reservation benefits are subject to valid Bihar domicile and category certificates.
  
• No provision for scribe or extra time for OH candidates.
  
• Candidates must participate in all stages of the selection process.
