The Central Government has notified the appointment of three advocates—Shri Ajit Bhagwanrao Kadethankar, Shri Sushil Manohar Ghodeswar, and Ms. Aarti Arun Sathe—as Additional Judges of the Bombay High Court. The Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice, issued the official notification following the approval from the President of India.
Background of the Appointment
The appointments have been made in exercise of the power conferred by Clause (1) of Article 224 of the Constitution of India. The standard procedure for such appointments involves the recommendation of names by the Collegium of the concerned High Court, which are then reviewed and recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium to the Central Government for final processing and Presidential assent. The elevation of these advocates follows the culmination of this constitutional process.
The three advocates appointed to the bench are:

Constitutional Provision for Additional Judges
Article 224(1) of the Constitution empowers the President to appoint duly qualified persons to be Additional Judges of a High Court for a period not exceeding two years. Such appointments are made when it appears that by reason of any temporary increase in the business of a High Court or by reason of arrears of work therein, the number of the Judges of that Court should be for the time being increased.
As per the notification, the three advocates have been appointed as Additional Judges for a term of two years with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices.
