New Delhi: The Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India, has notified the appointments of twelve individuals to judicial positions across three of the nation’s High Courts. The appointments include ten Additional Judges for the Punjab and Haryana High Court, one Additional Judge for the Andhra Pradesh High Court, and one Judge for the Patna High Court. The new appointees are drawn from both the Judicial Service and the Bar.

Background of the Appointments
The appointments follow the recommendations made by the Supreme Court Collegium for the elevation of judicial officers and advocates to the benches of their respective High Courts. After receiving the assent of the President of India, the Department of Justice issued the official notifications formalizing these appointments. These elevations are aimed at increasing the working strength of the judiciary in these courts and facilitating the expeditious disposal of pending litigation.
Appointments to the Punjab and Haryana High Court
A total of ten judicial officers have been elevated as Additional Judges of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. This is a significant addition to the bench strength of one of the country’s busiest High Courts.

- Shri Amarinder Singh Grewal, Judicial Officer
- Shri Parmod Goyal, Judicial Officer
- Ms. Rupinderjit Chahal, Judicial Officer
- Ms. Shalini Singh Nagpal, Judicial Officer
- Shri Subhash Mehla, Judicial Officer
- Shri Surya Partap Singh, Judicial Officer
- Ms. Aradhna Sawhney, Judicial Officer
- Shri Yashvir Singh Rathor, Judicial Officer
Appointments to the Andhra Pradesh and Patna High Courts
In addition to the appointments for the Punjab and Haryana High Court, the Centre has also notified appointments for the High Courts of Andhra Pradesh and Patna.
- Advocate Shri Tuhin Kumar Gedela has been appointed as an Additional Judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court.
- Advocate Shri Ajit Kumar has been appointed as a Judge of the Patna High Court.
These appointments from the Bar are expected to bring valuable experience from legal practice to the High Court benches. The new judges are expected to assume their duties shortly.
