Judicial Custody of Three Hitmen Extended in Meghalaya Businessman Murder Case

A court in Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills district on Thursday extended the judicial custody of three alleged contract killers accused in the brutal murder of Indore-based businessman Raja Raghuvanshi. The trio — Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, and Anand Kurmi, all residents of Madhya Pradesh — appeared before the court via video conferencing from Shillong district jail.

Public Prosecutor Tushar Chanda confirmed that the court granted a 14-day extension of their custody.

Investigations revealed that the killing was allegedly orchestrated by his wife Sonam and her lover Raj Kushwaha, both of whom are currently in judicial custody. Police say the murder was carefully planned, and the three hired killers executed the crime in the presence of the wife.

Authorities also arrested three more individuals in Indore — a property dealer, a flat owner, and a security guard — for allegedly obstructing the investigation and tampering with evidence at a flat where Sonam and Kushwaha stayed after the crime.
