Centre Notifies Appointment of Two Advocates as Additional Judges of Bombay High Court

The Central Government has notified the appointment of two advocates as Additional Judges of the Bombay High Court, following the due process of consultation with the Chief Justice of India, under the powers conferred by the Constitution of India.

According to the notification, the following advocates have been appointed:

  1. Shri Gautam Ashwin Ankhad
  2. Shri Mahendra Madhavrao Nerlikar

They have been appointed as Additional Judges of the Bombay High Court for a period as specified under Article 224(1) of the Constitution of India. This provision enables the appointment of Additional Judges to address the temporary increase in the workload or backlog of cases in the High Court.

The notification comes as part of the Centre’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the judiciary and enhance the efficiency of the justice delivery system.
