An incident of assault on an advocate within the court premises of Aligarh’s Civil Lines police station area has sparked concern among the legal community. The advocate, identified as Suresh Kumar, has alleged that he was physically assaulted and strangled in an attempted murder on June 12 during court proceedings.
According to the FIR lodged at the Civil Lines police station, Advocate Suresh Kumar, a resident of Azad Nagar under Jawan police station limits, was appearing in a family court matter titled Shani vs. Parveen under the Hindu Marriage Act. He was representing Parveen in the case.
Suresh Kumar stated that during the proceedings, Shani (the opposing party) and his uncle Mahendra Singh approached him in the courtroom with the intent to kill. He alleged that Shani attempted to strangle him and punched him in the ear, causing partial hearing loss. The advocate raised an alarm, following which the accused fled the scene while threatening him with further harm.

Following the complaint, the police registered a case and initiated an investigation. Medical examination of the advocate has also been conducted to support the legal proceedings. Authorities have begun reviewing CCTV footage from the court complex to ascertain the sequence of events and identify the accused.
Station House Officer (SHO) of Civil Lines, Rajveer Parmar, confirmed the registration of the case and said that legal action will follow based on the findings of the investigation. The complainant has demanded the immediate arrest of the accused involved in the assault.
