A bomb threat received via email at the Gujarat High Court this morning triggered panic and a sweeping security lockdown across the court premises. The anonymous email, sent to the court’s official address, prompted immediate action from police, bomb disposal squads, and sniffer dog units, halting court activities and sealing all entry points.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Safin Hasan, in charge of Zone 1, confirmed the incident. “A bomb threat has been received on the High Court’s email, which is being investigated,” he said. “The High Court gates are currently closed, and police are conducting a thorough investigation. We are also actively working to trace the person who sent this email.”
Eyewitnesses described a sudden disruption of routine proceedings as security personnel sprang into action. “I was just about to enter the court for a hearing when suddenly all the gates were closed,” said an advocate, speaking on condition of anonymity. “It’s unsettling to think such a threat could be aimed at the High Court.”

The Bomb Detection and Disposal Team (BDDT), along with fire and rescue units, arrived at the scene within minutes. Gate number 5, commonly used by court staff, was among the first to be sealed. Police personnel began systematically checking all incoming vehicles and conducting floor-by-floor sweeps of the building using trained sniffer dogs.
A court employee, standing outside the cordoned-off zone, shared: “We saw police officers rushing everywhere, and then the dog squad started checking cars. It’s a scary situation, but they’re taking every possible precaution.”
The incident comes on the heels of several recent bomb threats across Gujarat, many of which turned out to be hoaxes. Despite the possibility of today’s threat also being a false alarm, authorities are leaving nothing to chance. “We are taking the matter seriously and prioritising the safety of everyone present in the High Court,” said an official involved in the investigation.
The identity of the sender remains unknown, and efforts are underway to trace the source of the email. Meanwhile, court functioning has been temporarily disrupted, and a heightened security presence is likely to remain in place until clearance is received from the bomb squad.
Further updates are awaited as the investigation continues.
