The Supreme Court of India and its Registry will observe a two-minute silence today at 2:00 PM to honour the memory of those who lost their lives in the recent act of terrorism in Pahalgam, located in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
As per a circular issued by the Administrative Security Branch, the silence will be observed across the Court and Registry premises as a mark of respect and tribute to the deceased.

The circular outlines the following protocol to be followed:

- Silence will be observed at exactly 2:00 PM on April 23, 2025, and will last for two minutes.
- To signal the commencement of the observance, a siren will be sounded from 1:59 PM to 2:00 PM.
- At the appointed time, Hon’ble Judges, lawyers, Registry staff, and all other individuals present in the Supreme Court premises will stand and observe two minutes of silence.
- After the observance, an “all clear” siren will be sounded from 2:02 PM to 2:03 PM to mark the conclusion.
This tribute comes in the wake of a devastating terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed numerous lives and has deeply impacted the nation. The observance by the apex court serves as a solemn gesture of national mourning and solidarity.
