Jaipur, Rajasthan – In a curious turn of events, a new food establishment in Jaipur named A Lawyer’s Kitchen has found itself in legal hot water shortly after opening. While the venture appeared to be inspired by innovative branding trends like Gujarat’s ‘MBA Chaiwala’ and Madhya Pradesh’s ‘Patrakar Pohewala’, the usage of certain legal symbols in its name and logo has triggered a backlash from the local legal community.
The outlet, located in the Mahesh Nagar area of the city, had stylized its name A Lawyer’s Kitchen using visual elements associated with the legal profession. Specifically, the letter “A” in “LAWYER’S” was designed in the shape of the symbolic white neckband worn by advocates as part of their formal dress code. Additionally, the letter “T” in “KITCHEN” was depicted in the shape of a judge’s gavel—an emblem of judicial authority commonly seen on courtroom benches.
These design choices, intended to give the brand a legal-themed identity, instead offended members of the legal fraternity. Several lawyers objected to the use of professional legal symbols in a commercial context, calling it a misappropriation of the dignity and decorum of the judiciary. An FIR was subsequently registered against the business owner at the Mahesh Nagar Police Station.

According to reports, not only has the FIR been lodged, but the business has also temporarily shut down operations due to the controversy. Legal proceedings are likely to follow, as the complainants argue that the brand’s stylization misleads the public and undermines the seriousness of the legal profession.
Legal experts say this incident serves as a cautionary tale for entrepreneurs about the potential pitfalls of branding, especially when it involves representations of professional identities or symbols with institutional sanctity.
