The Uttarakhand High Court has granted bail to Mukesh Singh Bora, the president of the Nainital Milk Union, who was arrested on allegations of rape and molestation. Justice Alok Mehra issued the bail on March 19, under strict conditions that Bora would cooperate with the ongoing investigation and avoid any contact that could influence the survivor.
The allegations against Bora stem from a complaint made by a widow, an employee of the union, who accused him of repeatedly raping her as a condition for securing a permanent job at the union. Additionally, she claimed that Bora molested her daughter, leading to charges under both the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
During the bail hearing, Bora’s defense argued that the First Information Report (FIR) was filed belatedly and highlighted inconsistencies in the survivor’s statements that they claimed weakened the credibility of her accusations. Conversely, the prosecution maintained that there was substantial evidence indicating Bora’s lack of cooperation with the investigation process.

As part of the bail conditions, Bora is required to surrender his passport to ensure he remains within the country and available for trial proceedings. In case he does not possess a passport, he must file an affidavit to that effect.
