Chhattisgarh High Court Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha Lays Foundation Stone for New Civil Court Building and Residential Colony in Sukma

Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh – March 12, 2025 – Another milestone in enhancing the judicial infrastructure was achieved today as the virtual Bhoomi Poojan and laying of the foundation stone for the New Civil Court building and Civil Court Staff Residential Colony at Sukma were successfully conducted at 10:00 a.m. by Hon‘ble Shri Justice Ramesh Sinha, The Chief Justice, High Court of Chhattisgarh. The event was held online, reaffirming the commitment to strengthening the working environment for all stakeholders in the justice delivery system.

The event was virtually presided over by the Hon’ble Shri Justice Ramesh Sinha, Chief Justice of the High Court of Chhattisgarh and was graced by the esteemed presence of Hon’ble Shri Justice Arvind Kumar Verma, Judge, High Court of Chhattisgarh, and Portfolio Judge, District Dantewara.

In his impactful virtual address from the High Court premises, Hon’ble the Chief Justice emphasized the critical importance of robust infrastructure for the effective administration of justice. Remembering his inspection of the District Court in Dantewara, His Lordship stated, “Since joining the Office one and half years back, I began my administrative tour with District Dantewara, and it is a proud moment that the region is now completing judicial infrastructure with the New Civil Court Building and the Civil Court Staff Residential Colony at Sukma.”

Hon’ble The Chief Justice extended heartfelt congratulations to everyone on the occasion of this Bhoomi Poojan and remarked, “The new infrastructure will boost up the efficiency of the Judicial Officers and Staff in delivering Justice.”

Emphasizing the Commitment of the High Court, Hon’ble the Chief Justice has reiterated that qualitative Infrastructure is essential for ensuring fair and efficient access to justice and it is the vision of the High Court to establish qualitative judicial infrastructure in every District. His Lordship urged the Principal District Judge and Administrative officers to ensure the timely completion of the project without compromising on quality and standards, so that the building sets a benchmark for future constructions, embodying durability and functionality to facilitate the delivery of justice for many years to come.

During the Bhoomi Poojan and Laying of the foundation stone, a virtual prototype of the New Civil Court building, which is going to be constructed, was observed by Hon’ble The Chief Justice. The New Civil Court building in the remote forest area of Sukma Tehsil of South Bastar Dantewada district, for which the foundation stone has been laid and Bhoomi Poojan has been conducted, will be constructed on an area of 2189 square meters. Apart from two Court rooms, facilities like a Child care/Women common room, Men common room, Computer room, Statistics and Dispatch room, Legal aid room, Nazarat section, Copying section, Central filing section, Steno room, Reader room, Conference hall, Judges’ library, Court library, Special guest room, and Stationery room are planned. This construction is expected to be completed in a period of twelve months after Bhoomi Poojan. Administrative approval of ₹7.22 crore has been received for this new building.

Similarly, the Civil Court Staff Residential colony, for which Bhoomi Poojan and the foundation stone were laid by Hon’ble The Chief Justice, will consist of 11 houses for the employees, including 03 ‘G’ type, 05 ‘H’ type, and 03 ‘I’ type quarters. Administrative approval of ₹1.30 crore has been received for this New Residential Colony, and its construction is to be completed within ten months.

The programme began with a welcome address by the Principal District and Sessions Judge of Dantewara and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Dantewara.

The event was attended by the Registrar General of the Chhattisgarh High Court, Officers of the Registry, Judicial Officers, Administrative Officers of District Dantewara, Advocates, Court staff, and representatives from the electronic and print media.
