Allahabad High Court Stays Allocation of Liquor and Cannabis Shops Pending Final Decision

In a significant ruling, the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court has imposed a temporary hold on the allocation process for liquor shops via a lottery system. The decision will remain in effect pending a final judgment from the court.

The bench, composed of Justice Rajan Rai and Justice Om Prakash Shukla, issued the order during a hearing on a petition filed by Ramchandra and others from Sitapur. The petitioners challenged a new government order regarding the reallocation of liquor shops.

The court has granted the state government four weeks to file a response to the petition. The next hearing on this matter is scheduled for April 7.

This interim order seeks to ensure that the allocation process is conducted fairly and transparently, following legal scrutiny by the High Court.
